This Excessive Desire Of Travel Needs To Stop!

There is this restless that has crept in. I can’t concentrate on finishing my tasks at hand. I get easily distracted. An attractive picture with the simplest of nature’s bounty can take me away to a far off place in imagination. I need a getaway. Forget need, I am craving to get out.

What I rambled above is just a feeling I keep going through every once in a while, and it almost irritates me to accept it. I have found my cure for something that may possibly not even exist in going on a trip. I have an excessive, almost compulsive desire to travel and explore. I keep on looking at someone’s travel pictures, stalk them thoroughly, almost visiting the place through their pictures. As I scroll through, I keep feeling miserable of not having the chance to be there at that moment, I start feeling insecure of missing out. I am working for money, but caught in circumstances which do not let me willingly splurge it as I wish to. I want to pack my bags and leave. No kidding, but I have a section in my wardrobe which is for fixed travel clothes, because somehow I just want to leave for some place without even deciding. And I have done that few times before. Now it is not so feasible given the responsibilities we surround ourselves in.

But after a point even these thoughts seem too much. It is foolish to only think of traveling about. I don’t know how exactly to put it. But this excessive need for travel needs to stop. Every second person, or rather I haven’t met anyone who’ll say, “No I don’t wish to travel.” And all of this has become an acquired wanderlust. Plus the satisfaction they seek to make others feel jealous of your outings has damaged the very concept. Everyone is equally lusting for travel as for the other basic lust. The desire to move out is actually like a bug going on to bite everyone. To make a plan of an outing is just as exciting as getting the salary credited alert (obviously, since you need money to travel.)

While it was earlier a race of being better than someone- be it getting higher percentages, better salaries, it has now even entered into the leisure space. A break you took with family, a solo outing you did or a foreign land you stepped on as compared to going just about 50 kms away? My holiday is better than yours! And thus, they waste time in clicking the perfect pictures, giving away the food menu details, clicking it like a portfolio in making and struggling for the hi-speed internet to post it right away. Why? Why don’t you just enjoy the moment? But wait, while they also do that they have a plethora of pictures already taken to post it for #Throwback.

I want my identity someday as a traveller. I want to narrate my travel stories to a larger audience, probably become so big that others pay for my travel. Honestly, it is a distant dream but it has damaged my processing now I think.  So even before I work to become that big, I am actually plotting my own journeys.

Why is something as basic as just getting away getting so commercialised? Today I have ample amount of options before me to select from. Every travel company coming up with such a variety that it almost ends up looking same. Ironic right? That’s somehow the point I am trying to make. In a service to offer comfort, there’s such uncomfortable competition.
Everyone has always wanted to travel, I do not question that. I wonder if this need is desired or now crafted for desire. Why have we fallen prey to commercialised idea of travelling? It is very obvious that people want to get out and see new places but incessantly going on about travelling, is it not stretching the idea too far? Can you afford a gypsy living when all your other mediums advertise about life insurances?

I agree when I say it cures me, I am actually running away from that situation. To be in a new land, not those same faces around and all that is rejuvenating in its own way but chasing that lifestyle is not. The way it has moulded into a compulsion is not. How travelling within the immediate boundaries comes under your ‘wanderlust’ is not travel. There are some really minute moments you pick up on your road, which can in a certain way change your outlook, maybe that counts as an experience as opposed to living it up constantly under ‘Travel Goals Giver Babe.’ Like these YOLO SOLO types so overdone, that they aren’t that fascinating.

It is again ironic that at a time when I write my mind about all this pseudo travel phase, I am stuck in it. But while I also think about the way how the concept is being moulded, I am ready yet again to pack my bags and leave.

This time I am not going for an escape. This time I am heading out because there’s a long weekend, I have got a very reasonable package and why not? This time I am ready to embrace too many moments, discover much more, fuel my passion once again of ‘travelling to seek and not seeking to travel!’
