Home Alone: Expectation Vs Reality

It is like a moment we've been waiting for for every tween when our parents announce a trip without us. The moment they plan a trip, and you know you won’t be joining them, you start making plans. Thought bubbles of Dost, Daaru and Dhuaa come instantly. Depending on the days you’re going to be alone, you start assigning days to a set of friends. But it is not as you expect it to be, once the day finally comes when your parents take a leave. I’ve been lucky enough to be alone at home for few days time and again. And every time I make plans, there are destiny’s counter plans to spill water on them.

Expectation Vs Reality
You make all plans in your head, talk to your friends, decide the timings and then one will call and say ‘sorry yaar, mummy nahi bhej rahi.” Bas! One says this and the rest of them rather than convincing start cancelling the plans.

Then next time your friends actually do come over. You order food, get drinks, get high and the suit follows. You have all the fun and sleep off with no worries. Yayy!
Next morning maid calls, “Sorry Didi! Aaj nahi aa sakti, meri tabiyat thik nahi.” That’s destiny laughing at you. Clean up all the mess. Wash utensils which you very generously used for the party previous night. Yayy goes Nayy!

Empty house is green signal for bae! (Hehehehe) Opportunities of behind the door, knock on the door! Maybe this works sometimes but then what if you're single? *destiny's evil laugh*

You think since you’ve the house to yourself, you can do whatever you want. Roam around without wearing many clothes, turn up the music loud, and spend time with yourself!
You’ll wear the minimum clothes and sit, the doorbell rings. Chya aaila!
Most of the times when you expected you’d dance on ‘Put your hands up’ or ‘David Guetta’ or any Bollywood music; you end up crouching on the bed hugging a pillow singing ‘Kahi toh hogi who duniya jaha tu mere saath hai’ or ‘Rehna hai tere dil me!’ (Well, not exactly these songs yaar!!)

Well, if you’re working then you need to think 10 times before making any plans. Because you never know what time you’ll get back home. The biggest expectation vs reality happens here! A victim of corporate norms, you can’t compromise and your plans are hanging until you get back.

Dekho na ab! From today my house is empty and I’m here sitting in front of the screen typing out the scenario! Laugh on my reality.
